A hallway reframed

When we took out the hall linen closet and made the old pantry bigger in order to turn it into the washer/dryer closet that meant we also needed to cut back the door frame to the front bedroom.  This would allow for a wider walk area to get into our bedroom.  I didn't want to lose any of the space in the room so I asked if we could just make the door go at a 45 degree angle.  We hemmed and hawed over it and brainstormed over what else we could do, but in the end it was really the only option.  Last week, George and Jeffrey got it framed out and drywalled and here it is:

What do you think? I'm totally sold on it! (I think its hard to appreciate from these pics). Instead of walking into the room with the view of the back wall you now walk into it with a view of the whole room! I can't wait to have all our junk out of the room and decorate it so you can really get an idea of the new doorway.

P.S. Yes, that is my hot water heater in the hallway.
